[RC] to Jessica - Cindy CollinsA very fair question, Jessica. As far as I know, RM did not "horseback ride" that section. They rode over in on four wheelers and carried a GPS to double check their speedometers. It was such a short section that was re-routed...only Ranger Creek Station to Adelaide Lake, not the entire leg of the ride. I won't get into an argument about exactly how far it was, but it couldn't be over 7-10 miles, so I'm sure they didn't think it would be a big deal in the course of a 100 mile ride. Hind sight is everything, isn't it?! So, no, the 81 year old and the 60 something year old (holding down several jobs to make ends meet) ride managers did not ride that little section on horseback. They can't find help to mark the trail or work the stops, much less find some one to drag ride (and that needs to be someone who really knows the trail) or preride sections. For the rest of you, just try to remember that every time I or Kathy Arnold have suggested that we have to fold the ride because we just don't have the volunteers, "all of you" throw a fit and say we can't lose this wonderful ride. You can't have it both ways, guys. Cindy =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
