[RC] [RC] To Ramy Jisha and BG 100 - sherman

Sometimes it’s just time for @#$! to happen. In my little neighborhood, where there are only about 15-20 horse owners, we’ve had about 4 colic deaths (2 belonging to 1 owner), several other cases of colic that were treatable, and 1 heart attack of an otherwise healthy 16 yr old mare, all in about 5 years. NONE of these horses were on endurance rides, but if they had been, they still would have had these problems and died…

Just a thought,

Kathy

First off, I started in 1979.  That's when we didn't have many rides a year to go to.  I can remember only three horses that died......up to about 1988 in the SE region.  I am sure I am missing some.  And sure someone will correct me about it.  To me, that doesn't seem like a lot considering we didn't know half of what we do now, didn't have a fraction of the tools(feed, supplements, elytes, etc.) that we do now, and the vets didn't have the knowledge of stressed horses like they do now.
