Re: [RC] misconceptions on the BH - Sisu West Ranch"... In fact given the BH is a small ride the probability of two horses dying at random at the BH during it's history is about 1 in 1 million...." I'm not enough of a statistician to do the proper calculation, but I seem to remember that when you have a small population, and a rare random event, it is not that unlikely that there will be a cluster. Sort of like finding that two slot machine jackpots are claimed in an hour at a small casino, or that there are 3 cases of breast cancer in a small WI town in one year. Disclaimer: I am not claiming that there should not be an investigation, I am just not ready to blame anyone for something that most likely is a random event. I did do the Big Horn 50 one year. My feeling was that one was much more on one's own than in an ordinary Midwest, or Eastern ride. I do not fault the management for this, it is part of the nature of the ride. You have to deal with it. If you are not self reliant, stay home.
