Re: [RC] The Bare Facts - rides2farIncreased sole callous decreases or eliminates the chance of stone bruisesThrush & white line disease become less of an issue or non-issue The one year we had a bad outbreak of whiteline in this area there were 4 unshod ponies on my road and 2 shod horses. (I had to treat the neighbors animals so I'm counting theirs) All the unshod ones got bad cases of whiteline that I was treating all summer...separation 1/2 way up the hoof wall. Had to stuff it with cotton & iodine/glycerine mixture. Not fun. Neither of the shod horses got it at all. In the years since then we've gotten mild cases on the unshod ones that I've seen and caught early. None of my shod horses have ever gotten white line yet. My Welsh ponies that were 10 and 11 and had never had shoes on never did figure out that part about developing the invincible callous. They ran my face all through the bushes trying to walk off to the side of the trail to avoid a few pebbles. :-P Happy it's working for you though.
