Re: [RC] 2006 Big Horn 100 - Truman PrevattA ride with one equine fatality is rare and the probability of this happening is small but given a large enough ride it could happen as a random event. I'm not sure I've ever heard of a ride with two equine fatalities. Given the AERC fatality rate - it is a very small probability it would happen at random. For two equine fatalities to happen at a small ride - one would hope there is a serious effort by the Horse Welfare Committee and the AERC BOD to determine in an orderly manner what happened and determine if there were things that could have been done to have reduced the risk to the horses. Two horses dying at a single endurance ride is unimaginable and if something could have been done differently that could have prevented it that wasn't - unconscionable. Tragic, but not necessarily due to poor vetting or over-riding. The other fatality I hadn't heard of. -- “With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things.
