Fenbendazole is very safe and mild, and will cause much less stress to a rescue horse's overall health than a parasite load will. I would NOT use one of the "nuclear" antihelmintics, ie Moxidectin, at least until I'd cleared out most with the Panacur first. I have zero faith in diatomaceous earth as a treatment or preventative. Just seen too many horses with devastating parasite loads that were only being 'treated' with DE and wormwood homeopathics. JMO.
