Plus, floods
and washouts sometimes take down fences, block roads to four-wheelers and
rearrange landscapes that had become repetitious to ride through. It's nice to
have weather; weeks of blue skies get monotonous.

Spring fever in January
I hear ya' Dyane. I too am in "far, far
northern Ca and I'm starting to worry about conditioning. I was starting
to get a good base on my new gelding, but with no riding since the first of
Dec. I'm sure it's all going away. Let's hope for a break
soon.
From far far northern California: more rain and fog than
I have ever seen, one or the other or both since Thanksgiving! Last
night rained all night, this morning woke to snow. Oh, man, what a
winter.
It is so ironic.....we've bogged in mud
and Texas and Oklahoma are burning up. If only the weather could be
spread around a little more evenly. It was supposed to rain here by
yesterday evening, but the storm just sat off of NW California and dumped 4"
of rain on them in 24 hours. It's down her now, but not heavy
yet.....just soggy and so depressing.
I hear you - and I have friends in Texas that
are desperately needing rain! We're way behind here on snow, had two
very dry months in Nov. and Dec. and the snowpack is dwindling. Bad
news for next year's water supply!
It's a sunshiny and calm day here,
perfect for riding. It's a strange winter so far...very dry, we
sure could use some snow.
As a certified newbie, I'm looking
forward to going to my first endurance ride, so please be assured I'm
one of the many (I'm sure most) newbies who appreciate all the advice,
friendliness, and years of experience on this list. Rest assured
I won't be trying to break any speed records, well, maybe I will, for
slowest speed on record for a first 50... and believe me, I can do
it!
