RE: [RC] Proud Flesh Knees - Pat and Janett Van NulandWhen My filly Mustang was injured in pasture while I was away. The vet had me wash (scrub) the wound daily with a brush (like a veggie brush) till all the scabs that had formed came off and the tissue that was newly exposed started to lightly bleed. This injury was deep and on her rear right leg. It all heeled just fine with no scarring and it took months to do but well worth it. The people had the vet out to treat him twice but when I got him home and unbandaged his knee it was inflamed the size of a half orange with a deep fissure in the middle. I just scrubed the proud flesh and tried to get into the fissue and I quess I did as it started draining. Wet to dry saline and redressed the wound. I have an appointment at the vet today to get restarted on his healing. Any suggestions. I swear by Schrieners for previous wounds but never this deep. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
