RE: [RC] Remote areas and hay delivery/ round bales - heidiwe've used them for cows but not the horses. it seems a good idea but i just don't like the idea of hay out in the weather and on the ground...<g> yeah, i know..i AM pecular If ground moisture is a big issue, then putting them in a feeder is always an option. We've never had a problem with putting them on the ground, and find that we actually have less waste than when we meal-feed on the ground. As for the weather, with our mob, they eat them fast enough that it just isn't an issue. I put 3 in with our broodmares and one in our mare-and-baby paddock about every 6-7 days this time of year. Since it is more economical for me to haul two at a time, I do put two in with the geldings, although it takes them about 7-8 days to eat one--and even having them in there for 2+ weeks, they don't spoil a bit and the boys eat them right up.
