I do horse blanket laundry and repair for a living,
well just a little bit of my living.  Anyway, Nikwax
is what I have been using for years.  There are two
different types, one for synthetic and one for
canvas/cotton. I do my riding boots, jackets and
whatever I want to stay dry.  Even use it on polar
fleece blankets.   Never had a complaint.  I soak them
usually overnite in the solution in my machine, spin
them dry.  No problemo to date.
