RE: [RC] [RC] Commute - Hybrid Vehicles - Jessica CameronMy little car, a Mazda Protege, gets 34-35 miles/gallon consistently (that's combining intown and highway) and only cost me $2,000. Runs like a dream and only have to change the oil in it on a regular basis. This little car gets ran around a lot too, I usually drive about 50-60 miles/day with commuting, commuting for the nags, and running errands. It may not be the newest car out there, but I like it and it's totally reliable, starting in -30 degree weather without a block heater every time for the last 3 winters, and great A/C. I really need to get a block heater though, (much easier on the car).Jessica in MT So if the commute is on freeway or high speeds, you're using gas, not electricity. We live 45 miles from jobs and have looked at hybrids. Not for us.we drove Geo/Chevy Metros for years. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
