[RC] Fwd: [RC] EASY BOOT BARES - Marta Kozlowska

Subject: Re: [RC] EASY BOOT BARES

Terry,
Thanks for the link to the instructions. Let me explain what was happening.  Mare was walking on the heel strap.  So i never managed to pull it up.  I regret not trying to cut it down before cutting it out.  That may have worked for us.
Thanks again!
Marta

Hi Marta,
I am not sure where you heard that the heel strap is supposed to be "up
over" the heel bulbs, but that is incorrect. They should NOT be above the
heel bulbs. Below are the instructions:

   http://www.easycareinc.com/our_boots/easyboot_bare/easybare_fitting.aspx

A properly applied boot: The INSIDE BACK STRAP is designed to fit snugly,
LOW AROUND THE QUARTERS, BELOW THE HAIRLINE, AND BELOW THE HEEL BULBS.   You
can pull it into position with the included nylon pull-strap, then slide the
strap out once the back strap is in proper position. If the horse has a very
low heel, make sure the strap is not pulled out of its position, or in any
way allowed to abrade a low heel. Horses with low heels may require the
inside strap to be cut down a notch or two to avoid chafing near the heel
bulbs. Do not use the boot if any portion of the plastic is above the
hairline or touching sensitive skin. You will need to slide your finger in
the back of the boot to make sure the backstrap is not touching sensitive
skin.
