The Vermont 100 ran in near record high temperatures for Vermont not to lesson the effect of extremely wet weather prior to the ride causing a lot of mud in places.? Amazingly, the trail ran very well and the winning time in the 100 was only 45 minutes off the record (12 hours).? Sandra Connor piloted Elegant Pride (owned by Lana Wright) to the win and BC.? Second was Steve Rojek riding Finch.? They were followed by Wendy Bejarano on Bie-Kin, Connie Walker on VSF Otis, Kathy Downs on Blew Away, Mindy Vienneqau on Thunder, Jeff Kavy riding Colleen, Traci Reynolds on Mastiki Pi, Jen Sapira on Aladdin Weczera and a tie for 10th between Micki Meuten on Fury and Roxanne Winslow on Nikazem.? Despite the conditions there was a 73% completion rate!
At the awards ceremony, the runners addressed the riders telling them how special it was to have both riders and runners competing on the same trail.? One runner, at 73 miles, actually ran back to the photographer so that he could have his picture taken running along side a horse!? During awards, the last runner to cross the finish line at 10AM (30 hours) was applauded.??
