RE: [RC] slightly off topic - how do you estimate a horse's future height? - Rae CallawayI've found that if you measure straight down from the soft spot in the center of the knee to where the hair meets the hoof (don't follow the curve of the leg), you get the height. Ie. 15 1/4 inches would be 15.1 hands. If you're unsure where to measure, try it on an adult horse. It's pretty accurate to an inch, give or take. Sorry, folks, this is slightly off-topic but it does relate to a future endurance prospect! I'm trying to guess how tall a yearling filly might grow. I seem to remember reading somewhere about a math formula that would give you an estimated height based on the length of the legs... I know that's vague but that's all I can remember. Does anyone else know this formula? How do you guess height? (And yes, I know there can be influencing factors. Just wanting a rough idea...)
