Re: [RC] Weather Patterns - Truman PrevattTom Sites wrote:Weather patterns don't bother any of us much til it affects us personally. We had the driest March on record and June was getting just as bad til in 1 day we had a months of rain and its just kept up. From a statistical point of view everything was/is 'Normal'. But ask the farmers and the people who make hay if its 'Normal'.Sounds like a plug for Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth." It's well established that global temperature rises will result in more erratic weather. It may mean the East coast all the way down to FL gets colder and wetter (because on the impact of the fresh water from the melting ice caps and "heavy" fresh water impacting the hydraulic action that generates the Gulf Stream turning off the Gulf Stream) to droughts in the plains. There was a recent Scientific American article that found a correlation with global rising temps with wild fires in the West with a prediction of more and more sever wild fire seasons in the US West in the upcoming years. It's not a big deal till it comes home to roust. As far as "averages" we have an "average" of 50 inches of rain a year. One year we had 90, and the next 2 years we had 30. Well that's 50 inches a year but let me tell you there is a vast difference between 90 and 30. It's not the average that gets you it's the variance from the average that gets you and what global warming means is a much greater variance. I think now we are in the process of seeking normal. Old mother nature will be in equilibrium - no matter what we mere humans would like. We've been messing with her and she is seeking her equilibrium and will do so with impunity.
