I had a discussion with TI just before he died. His
assumption was that horses are stalled between workouts. He had hard days
and less hard days. On a relatively unconditioned horse his less hard day
would be a 45 minute workout at a walk. I think my horses get the
equivalent on the pasture.
Also remember his whole focus was developing a horse,
and throwing away those who do not stand the pace, that can win the "big
race". His strategies undoubtedly took 10 times the training hours, and
got 10% more out of the horse.
In other words, he had different goals than most of
us.
