there are people who use wintec saddles sucessfully, even in 100
milers
however,
my experience with them is that they make very nice lightweight saddles,
for light (weight) riding... I've used both the GP and the endurance saddle for
a couple of years, and found that the trees tend to lose shape and cause
problems with pressure points - the most I've done is condition for and do
a couple of 60 km rides and my horse still has the white marks on his
back from it, 5 years down the road. I also find the synthetic seat burns
your bum & legs like mad with repeated posting or cantering... If you get
one I'd def recommend a sheepskin seatsaver!
for short backed arabs I find saddles from the Arabian Saddle company or
Gaston Mercier a godsend, they really are tailored to arabs. I personnaly would
rather invest in a second hand good quality saddle rather than a new wintec -
but ofcourse you need to search for this longer... alternatively, if you like BM
saddles you might want to try treeless - Torsion is quite good in my
experience for that sort of distance, on condition you use a really good gel pad
underneath for weight distribution
Podium saddles are quite cheap - worth a try I think, if you can cope with
the fact of sitting quite high up the horse and not really feeling what his back
is doing - I liked this saddle a lot for my arabs but it worked a bit like a
launching platform for me.. a good stop & spin and I would go flying off
forwards hihi
or - depending on the problem with your current saddle, you might be able
to have it altered?

[RC] Wintec saddle
Is anyone using a wintec saddle
successfully to do 50 mile rides? I'm thinking I need a different saddle
for my short backed arab with a small girth groove. He is telling me that
he isn't happy with my BM saddle especially since I've been doing a lot of rides
this season. My bank account can't swing a real expensive saddle right now
so a custom made one is out of the question for a while. I tired the
wintec pro stock saddle a while a few yrs. ago and it fit ok but the flaps were
too long for his round barrel and it was so heavy. Any suggestions as to
type or style of saddle that might work for him. Thanks for any
ideas? Happy Trails, Kathy Crothers.
