RE: [RC] setting records - heidiGranted, hubby and I did it "drive and load" style (somewhat like
ride and tie, where we take turns being the driver or the bale
picker-upper-and-stacker) but we just dragged our sorry butts back in
the house from a 196-bale day (which also included the horse shoer, a
trip to town early for a dental appointment and a trip later for a few
hours of the "day job"...)
Sad to say, we need to nearly double that number tomorrow...
As for eating your hearts out, this is nice mountain meadow hay, a
mix of about 5 different very palatable grasses with an occasional dash
of alfalfa, and all it cost us was my time with an irrigation shovel,
Paul's time and a modest rental on the neighbor's swather, 15% of the
field (roughly 35 acres) for the neighbor that is baling it for
us, and our time and fuel to pick it up. (And it is right next
door!) The only thing that would get any better than this would
be having a stout teenager to load and stack it.... <sigh>
