a feed must have some effect in raising the glycemic index in order to
be of value. In fact, there are many different things that
different feedstuffs can do--this one provides structural carbs and
stimulates gut motility (which in turn helps to stimulate the
production of VFAs from forages already in the hindgut, which feeds the
Krebs cycle as surely as raising the glycemic index does), and is a
great way for getting horses to take in more fluid with their feed.
