Re: [RC] advice needed - rides2farI bought this stick with about 18 inches of horse hair on the end. I just swing it to get ride of the flies pretty much how you use you sappling. Heck, with my arm length, I couldn't even reach their ears with that thing, much less their underbelly! Then there's the ones that land on the tail bone and burrow. We sound like fighter pilots going down the trail. "RIGHT HIP!" "IN HIS TAIL" "ON YOUR BACK!" Yes, the B-1 bomber horseflies are slow, but they're so loud they induce a bit of panic in the horse since he knows it's there so that adds a little excitement to the chase. The smaller greenhead ones require Ninja type skills. Josie is now catching those out of the air and says she plans to be able to catch them with chopsticks someday. :-) If you find yourself in the woods with deerflies attacking your horse's ears you can take a clump of leaves off a tree and slip it into the crownpiece of your horse's bridle. It will keep them off but you look kinda stupid. Angie =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
