Re: [RC] re electric fencing - Sisu West RanchAppears to be rather well stabilized. It perhaps helps that I purchased the brown variety. Pigments help a lot with UV resistance. I had some in WI that was 10 yrs old with no problems, but of course that is not FL.The wires are rather thicker stainless steel. Makes the fence more resistant to insults in general. Of course a lightening strike would undoubtedly vaporize it just like the cheaper wire. My present place is still partly fenced by old barb wire with woven wire under it. All my stock, except Stevie Ray, were raised on electric so they don't bother it much. Stevie, during his misspent youth, learned how to lean on fences and get that last bite on the other side. I spent this morning repairing fence. My other problem is that the rock here makes placing fence posts a real chore. The best solution is to use wood and have a professional drive them in. Works good, but I am cheap. It is my intention, to add one strand of Horseguard tape on standoff insulators to my fence. That should keep Stevie from leaning on the fence. I just never seem to have the time. Perhaps after hay is in....
