Re: [RC] Leg protection while traveling, pre- and post-ride - Truman Prevatt

When I started I was careful about wrapping and using shipping boots, etc. However, after awhile I saw not reason for doing that and haven't done it maybe 12 years. If it has been a particularly hard ride I might slap some clay on the legs and wash it off the next day. I don't, however, wrap.

I've trailer my guys near and far without shipping boots or wraps and no problems. If you wrap, head Jonni's warning. In properly applied wraps can cause harm to your horse.

Whew! Glad I'm not alone! We just clean our guys up, hose them off if there's a hose available, and let them rest and eat. We don't wrap for travelling, even when going from East Texas to New Mexico. Never had any problems.

Dawn in East Texas
