RE: [RC] Calories for your $$$ - Jeanie BartsonSorry, It is never very clear to me what approx. is a scoop? I have cup scoops and a large quart scoop. I also have used LMF Prime, Rice Bran and Beet Pulp to bring my mares weight up in addition to having more grass hay available. (I haven't used #5 All in 1 or Cool Calories- hopefully someone will know if these are good) She's doing great now, no weight problem. I did add a bit of fresh corn oil (1/2 cup) which is OK in the short term, but my vet does not recommend using corn oil in the long term as they say it may cause the body to not absorb certain needed nutrients which may cause an imbalance. I only used the corn oil for a few weeks and once she started putting on weight I added 1/4 cup fresh ground flax seed as a supplement instead. It's not cheap and kind of a hassle, but it seems to work great. Sorry I am not much help, but it sounded like a lot of feed if you are using a big scoop.
