[RC] easy boots, how easy!!?? :-) - Dream WeaverAt 09:41 PM 6/19/2006, you wrote:P.S> A question for people who boot on all 4 feet ( I have never booted the rear but plan on it for our first 75 mile ride in August.) is it as simple as the front feet? Should I take extra precautions like duct taping the hoof first??? And also- if I boot the night before ( not being a morning person the idea of having to duct tape AND boot all four hooves before a ride is a bit daunting)will the boot get looser or anything during the night?? Hi Chrystal -- Some horses take more time to adjust to having four boots on. You should do as many training rides as you can between now and then with four boots on. Depending upon how your horse moves, he may have to adjust his way of going slightly and if given enough time that works great -- but if not then you run the risk of making something 'sore'. Some horses aren't affected the same as others. I sometimes put the boots on the night before. Just leave the gaiter adjusted as loose as possible, and don't tighten the buckle. You can do that in the morning. I do like to take the boots off after finishing and put them on again in the morning if I am doing a 5 day ride on the same horse. Good luck on your 75 miler!
