[RC] Exercises for riders - Curves - Alissa CowanI belong to "Curves" as well. While I do feel silly sometimes, as I am the youngest person there BY FAR (and I'm 31 years old), Angie is right. Curves is what you make it. If I have an injury, I can go to Curves and shuffle around and go easy on myself like all the little old ladies there. But if I am feeling good I can do jumping jacks and run in place between stations, and can really work hard on the weights. I enjoy it - it gives me a nice boost in the morning. And the little old ladies are really nice! I do double duty on the ab machines - stay there for a minute each time around. And I can feel it. BUT - not as much as if I actually get on the floor and do crunches (which I also do at Curves, as they have nice mats there for stretching...)Bonus - it's the cheapest place I can find to work out - about half the price of the local gym. Alissa I recently joined "Curves" and am surprised how impressed I am with it. There is a circuit of "stations" which are machines that use hydraulics for resistance so it can be as hard as you make it. There are several machines that work on the muscles in your torso and they do *not* mimic sit ups. 80 year old women can get on and push the levers really easy and tax themselves. I can get on and pump it for as many reps as I can get in in that 30 second session and really get my heartrate up and feel the burn. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
