The Egyptians could see seven "planets" in the sky--the Sun, Mars, Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, Mercury, and the moon. They named the days of the week after these "planets"-- Saturday for Saturn, Monday for the moon, Wednesday for Venus, Sunday for the Sun, etc.,. Different religions declare different days of the week as their Sabbath. I guess that way, whatever day you choose to be out riding your horse, you can be sure to be offending somebody. Dr Q world renowned religion historian I think Dr. Q got this one wrong. Yes, "Sunday" is for "Sun Day." But AIUI our names come from Roman and Norse mythology, and dates back throught the Greeks to the Babylonians. For example, Wednesday is "Woden's Day," Thursday is "Thor's day," and Friday is "Freya's day."
