Re: [RC] Sunday - Maryanne GabbaniI'll have to do some checking on the days of the week in ancient Egyptian with some of my Egyptologist friends, but I'm sure that the words involved had nothing at all to do in sound with ours. Interestingly enough the current Egyptian week starts on a Sunday and continues to Saturday. The days of the week are simply numbered with Sunday being Day One, Monday Day Two, and so on until Friday which is called Goma here, meaning the day of gathering for prayer. Then they go back to numbers for Saturday. If you want to drive through downtown Cairo in a hurry, Friday any time before noon prayer (or during noon prayer) is the time for it because the streets are fairly empty. Afternoon, everyone and his brother is out and about. Many shops close on Sundays for some odd reason as well. Very random.Maryanne better watch it Bruce or someone some where will start a Quackenbush Jihad =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
