Not being a geologist or from Utah, i'll approach
this description from a gardners perspective and leave it to others to correct
or add to it.
Its the biggest solid smooth stone i ever seen in
any part of the world. It has a quality that when you traverse it on
horseback the sound is that of a 'dull sound'. It looks the color of sand,
yet its hard. The stone is so big you can travel it for miles and it drops
smoothly in ripples from what i saw to be 400'. Who knows how far it goes
into the ground. Of all the stone i ever saw i'd call this the 'Zen
Stone'. Did i mention its slick? Yes, its slick. And i'd
reckon thats how it got its name. ts
