my wife tells me i dont have sense enough to be afraid or nervous.  while trailriding in the hills of tennessee a few years ago, the horse i was on kind of freaked out and jumped off a little cliff.  it was only about 15 feet down.  luckily nobody got hurt.  just sort of made me mad, not really scared.

 

then another time, we were riding in the grand canyon, on one of those trails where we had to get off and walk with the horses.   the guide warned us not to let the horse bump into anyone going down the hill.  i was bringing up the rear, looked away for a second, my horse nosed into me and pushed me over the side of a ledge.  so there i was, dangling, with the reins in my hand.  luckily, it wasnt a sheer drop, or very far, but looking back, it could have been bad.
