[RC] Tripping horses - Budler,Cindy - AfroxI too have a seriously stumbly arab mare. We have tried everything shoeing wise to fix it - BUT it is lack of attention not shoeing! She ONLY trips when walking - we can trot and canter over the roughest ground and she never stumbles, but walk and we have been down on our knees a few times! She has a notoriously short attention span- this is the typical arab mare - a real airhead. She also continuously looking around while walking - at times even looking back - a straight line is seldom an option with her. I try to keep her attention and prevent her gawking at everything but find it is just a lot easier to keep at a trot when she is completely focussed and moving smoothly. She is also a 180 degree-er , probably because she spends her life gawking at everything ! !She usually does the 180 degree thing also when walking- trotting and cantering it is more of a slight teleport to the one side with continual forward movement while at the walk we spook, spin and just love to drop mom over the shoulder and high-tail it home !
