Re: [RC] sheath cleaning - Bette LamoreI usually have some Tranq around to get geldings to drop yet cannot do that with stallions about to breed so the night before collecting or breeding I've just rubbed a whole lot of Excaliber up there (they are not about to just "hand it to me") and then get the hose with warm water and run it up there. They actually seem to like it. Then once it is loosened, I have to put some more Excaliber (tea tree oil) up there and mess around a little and then the hose. Works pretty well for those horses that pull it up to their eye balls! ;-) Then it is no big deal to wash the stallions off with warm water once a lady is present to encourage them to drop. When it is stiff it is really easy to clean, too -- and the reward is, they get to breed. No "bath" -- no mare!Good luck Bette Bette Lamore Whispering Oaks Arabians Home of Bunny and 16.2h TLA Halynov who lives on through his legacy Hal's Riverdance! http://www.arabiansporthorse.com "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming --WOW-- what a ride !! I will make it more difficult for him to kick you (I said more difficult, not impossible). I would not recommend picking up the opposite foot as it is fairly easy for an agile horse to stand on two (opposite feet) and still kick. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
