[RC] Wyoming Wild Horse - Chris KaznowskiI would like to thank my patron saint, Our Lady of Perpetual LD, for her blessings at the Wyoming Wild Horse Challenge last weekend. It's always wonderful to get out to Wyoming, of course. The people were great, everybody pulling along to get everyone through safely. Ride secretary Marlynn keeping us amused, ride organizers and all having worked their butts off to mark the trail and have ample water in a parched land. Thank you for all those efforts. Since I live in the very urbanized SF peninsula, it was quite a treat to ride in truly wide open spaces. Since we started at the end of the pack both days, this was like riding all alone through wonderful vistas and past amazing rock formations (with ribbons, of course). Just a few antelope and jack rabbits for company. A special treat for our driver while he was volunteering was that he found some absolutely beautiful arrowheads. Someone else found what appeared to be an old musket ball. That and the stallion piles and the footprints of the resident mustangs (they didn't make an appearance for us this year) gave us some feeling for the sense of the place. I feel fortunate to have experienced this ride; both the horses and I were happy at the finish, glad for our respective cooling rinses and yummies to eat. And I was able to get both horses a massage, thanks to the presence of an equine massage therapist, who was there doing her first LD ride. I hope as good a time was had by all. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
