“The spending bill does not include two Bush
administration proposals that would have sold Forest Service lands to fund a
rural-schools program and Bureau of Land Management acres to fund operations
and reduce the debt.”
Good job by those of us who got involved by contacting our
elected representatives about this. However, remember the immortal words of
Yogi Berra…..”It ain’t over ‘til it’s over”.
Back Country Horsemen of North Georgia (Susan Shedd) received
an email from Johnny Isakson, US
Senator from Georgia,
stating that he is a co-sponsor of the Right-to-Ride bill in the Senate.
He said:
“I understand the importance of riding
activities in the United States,
and I believe that the government should fight to preserve the use of federal
land for riding trails and also improve facilities for the use of saddle stock.
Therefore, I am a cosponsor of S.781 in order to maintain the use of pack and
saddle stock animals on public lands including the National Park Service,
Bureau of Land Management, United States Fish and Wildlife Service, and the
Forest Service.”
Go Johnny!!!
If you get a minute and live in Georgia, please send him a “Thank
you” email and encourage him to help get the bill out of committee.
