[RC] OD experience - Chanting in the Mountains! - Amy CieriA little off the ride subject but did anyone else in camp hear the rhythmic chanting up in the mountains above us?
It was late, about 11pm on Friday, i'm trying to fall asleep and this sound comes down from the mountain. I first thought it was an animal but the longer I listened it had a chanting quality to it. The sound would rise and fall with a slow beat. Very eerie quality but comforting at the same time. A tenter was out walking and heard it too and said all the horses along the back line by the pavilion were looking up into the mountains, totally fixated on the sound.
My sleeping companion was snoring away, never heard a thing but while I was talking about this to a friend Jeannie Stuart-Spears came up and said she heard it too.
We all had the same story, 1st thought it was an animal and slowly starting thinking Native American gathering. Wild.
Tom Sites, were you up there? Anyway, I fell asleep thinking of what it was like to live here 200 years ago.
