[RC] Cowboy Mounted Shooting - k s swigart

From the CMSA website FAQ's:

"Do you use live ammunition (lead bullets) or bird shot?
No. The cartridges fired are called .45 caliber Long Colts. The brass
cartridge is loaded with black powder (like that used in the 1800's) and
then 'topped off' with either ground corncob or ground walnut shells.
This load will break a balloon up to about 15 feet. Live rounds are
strictly prohibited at competitions."

It would appear that the projectile that is used in Mounted Shooting is
either corncob or walnut shells. So they aren't just regular blanks.

However, since the rounds are loaded with a propellant (black powder)
and a projectile (corncobs or walnut shells), they are, indeed, "live."
Even if the projectile isn't made of lead (shotgun cartridges loaded
with rock salt are considered live ammunition as well).
