Paul, It was a great time at Top of The Rock, wasn't it? I agree with you that I have never been as wet in my life, but it was a blast. I really enjoyed riding with you Saturday, and you and your horse did a great job. Congratulations on 3rd place in the LD! I think you have overbilled me! It is true that I came in with a group of 3 extremely nice riders (a sponsor and two juniors) who caught me on the 2nd loop when my horse was flagging. They kindly and happily allowed me to join their group, even when I made it very clear that I was drafting off of them because my horse was beginning to realize he had done almost 50 miles in 2 days of mud (only his 2nd multiday of 25s). Near the end of the ride, I did offer to hold my completion until they pulsed down, because they pulled my horse along partway through that last loop and they deserved it (I would have still been out on the trail when they were pulsing down). Where you got your facts mixed up and gave me undeserved glory was that 2 of them beat me outright and pulsed down before me, and so I got 7th instead of 6th (not 4th) by waiting for completion. BC judging was only on the top 5,
so I wouldn't have been able to stand anyway. I did what I felt was right in the situation. They were a great group of riders, and they helped me and my horse out. I wasn't about to penalize them for their generosity. It will be a pleasure to ride with them again. I believe their names were Nancy, Emily and Josh (please let me know if I have their names wrong).
