Re: [RC] saddle pad choices - gel pads - bluwolf@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxJonni,In the mid to late 90's, I ran a tack store that sold Wolf Gel Pads - a gel that was bonded to Rubatex. Rubatex was a synthetic material that was moisture-vapor permeable and allowed heat to pass through & dissapate. The pads were originally made for human rehabilitation/quadraplegic patients. I had a number of people who repeatedly used them on endurance rides, including Old dominion & Tevis. They WERE heavy. I don't believe that anyone else contacted the manufacturer to continue to carry them after I closed my store. I've continued to use the left-over stock myself. I love them! Linda Flemmer Quoting Jonni <jonnij@xxxxxxxx>: Many of the gel pads that arena type riders use, I'd guess would not let the heat escape like I would feel it should on a distance ride. The heat would rise, and then just stop. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
