Re: [RC] unregistered pure-breds - Sisu West RanchThe overriding issue here goes deeper that horses, possible abuse of horses, or the desire of someone to hold a set of papers for a bargain price. The real issue is: Private Property Rights. Period. I own a horse. I can then dispose of it or not in whatever way I want. I have the absolute right to give it away, and not assign the papers. I have the absolute right to give it away and assign the papers to the recipient. I have the absolute right to sell it and assign the papers to you. I also have the absolute right to sell it and not transfer the papers to you. You on the other hand only have to acquire the horse under terms you find acceptable. If you feel your name on the papers is necessary, you are free to refuse the bargain, the gift or whatever and not acquire the horse. It is as simple as that. It is called capitalism. In addition to the monetary issues listed in previous posts, what about the filly/mare you feel should not be bred? Dog breeders usually sell "pet quality" dogs with a spay-neuter contract. (I'll bet that there are chislers who try to breed these dogs on and complain about the lack of papers also.)
