RE: [RC] Gaited Horses - Tracey LomaxI found this discussion very interesting indeed because I don't own an Arab and have occasionally toyed with the idea of doing an occasional LD on my older TB. I've not done it for a number of reasons, one of which (and no, it's not the primary one) being that I'm aware of the difficulties which TBs have in a sport of this kind : kak feet, and iffy legs. Now, don't leap down my throat yet, I'm going somewhere with this.... Jim's post hasn't made me go "oh, there you go, TBs shouldn't do endurance". Instead, it's made me realize that, if and when I do decide to do this thing, I need to be careful. Yes, of course, one should be careful anyway when doing this sport, but I don't think there's anything wrong with receiving another heads-up. So rather than see it as breed-bashing, I see it as someone with an interest in the horse's welfare posting a warning to those with horses who were not 'bred' for this, to look out for their horses. Is that so bad? Tracey PS Keith....did you have fun????? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
