Re: [RC] banned substances-Yucca - Kari HanesNancy,I ran into the same problem with a joint supplement for my mare. I didn't even realize it was in there until a few weeks into treatment when I sat down in the barn and read the label again. My main concern was the glucosamine and chondrioten that the vet said was needed. I could not get a definition of "mega dose". So about 4 days before the ride I stopped using it and started up again after the ride. That ran out last week so I found another that does not contain Yucca at all. Hope this helps. I have reviewed the AERC policy that addresses banned substances, but it is unclear about Yucca and other nutrient substances. The policy states that mega dose are not allowed, but smaller doses are. The difference is in treatment goals; anti-inflammatory vs. source of sulfur. I believe the hoof supplement I purchased is permissible, but I am checking with the list before I open the container.
