Ahh - I am cracking up at my computer just imagining my first endurance
ride: Tommy the TB/Percheron cross in a halter and a lead rope, me
bareback and wincing every step because his bony old withers hit in
just the wrong spot on my body, and my pajamas. Oh, my pajamas! I am
picturing pink bunny pajamas like what Ralphie wore in "A Christmas
Story." Now THAT would be a memorable first endurance ride!
It's only a matter of time before you guys suck me in to endurance. My
friend Cate is offering her TWH endurance mount for my first ride.
After 20 plus years of riding big old hunters, riding her little TWH is
a hoot! I just giggle the whole time I am riding him.
Thanks for the encouragement, guys! You'll see me at a ride at some
point.
managing > endurance rides. But every time I think about actually
DOING a ride
I > think "too complicated, I'd have to buy so much STUFF, I don't have
time > to condition, etc, etc."
Are you kidding? You can bring the horse you've got, ride bareback with
a rope halter in your pajamas. Remember to bring a sandwich and a bale of
hay and you're probably good for the weekend! Everything else is just
stuff we tack on to give us something to do.
