RE: [RC] anybody know the answer to this? - Kristen A FisherIt is true that we share the trails where this ride is held [LBJ National Grasslands] with any and all other riders *and* campers. However, I have yet to see very many non-endurance folks take up much camping space because most of them know how crowded that campground will be that weekend, and even if they didn't, they don't get usually show up to camp for the weekend on Thurs PM or early Fri AM anyway. And the endurance rigs always far exceed the capacity of the campground by mid-day Friday. Wishing I was there... I agree with everything you said, except that the newbie said she was told by the park ranger that the trails are open to one and all during the ride and that if non entrants fill up the parking area first, ride entrants have to park elsewhere. I'm betting that's not how it really is, but they do thangs diffrunt down thar in Texas (great big giant wink!!!) The ride manager has a specific permit for thosetrails forthat day, and as such, has every right to insist thatunentered horsesnot be out there. Think of it as being like a publiccampground--ifall the spaces are full, the campground host can turn people away, even though it is "public." As Angie pointed out, thereare also someserious liability issues. Tell the newbie that the friend either pays an entry fee or"supports"her as a pit crew from the ground. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
