Heidi is exactly right on this and if that Junior is the last horse through the last check, he/she can be sponsored on in for the completion by someone on foot with ride management approval.

Pity the poor Junior if I'm the only one available to jog them in!!

Actually, the junior part does have a specific exception--I'd have to go back and read the exact wording, but if a junior's sponsor is pulled and there are no other entered sponsors available (say everyone else has left the check) the RM can allow an unentered sponsor to accompany the junior. I don't know if the verbiage is still in the rule or not, but at one point, if that scenario happened, that junior could not place ahead of juniors who still had entered sponsors (to eliminate the "pace horse" concept) but at least could finish the ride.

I am walking out the door on my way to BlueBonnet. As a ride manager for two rides at the Grasslands, technically, it is public land and anyone can ride the trails but this is a ride that has 150 to 200 riders. You are better off just entering so the management can track you if something goes wrong. Plus you get a meal and a parking pass not to mention the experience of vet checks.

As for the AERC rules it is not allowed to have pace horse. We
have had in the past people who do not want to enter but want to sponsor
a Junior. THAT is not allowed. This is kinda the same thing.
