RE: [RC] Parelli/Natural Horsemanship - Karen GreenWhew... lots and lots of Parelli
input!
I'll admit that I stayed away from Parelli because...
well, his marketing was sooooo good, soooo slick, it put me off a bit. OK,
a lot.
Also because I met a Parelli "certified" (?) trainer
who was so very rigid in her approach I quickly walked away from her. She
was going to make my horse fit her program, not the other way around. Pass
on that, thanks!
One word that keeps coming up in the Parelli thread(s)
here is FUN ... another is SAFETY.
Well, heck... fun is why I'm doing this, why I gave up
other interests that consumed lots of time and money so I could devote those to
my horse and have a fun time in the process.
I wanted a high-adrenalin horse sport that
wouldn't require purchasing a six-figure Grand Prix jumper <sigh...
where are those trust funds when you need 'em?> . I found
endurance dot net and started lurking over three years ago... and that's
when I got serious shopping for an Arabian athlete.
So... you can all consider yourselves responsible for
the almost-always-fun partner I have today... Ridecamp has encouraged me
along.
Think I'll pass on the new spring outfit and buy that
Parelli Level 1...

the first time I saw Pat Parelli perform (yes, he's a huge showman) I came home
and told my husband "he is showing us what I used to know a long time ago. How
to have fun with my horse again". Which is also why I ride endurance. To have
fun. Now I have sane, happy horses and I enjoy myself immensely.
