i've often wondered what you'd do if a person was
biten by a snake. years ago i was hiking and was about five miles
from anything when out of the corner of my eye i caught a flash of something
leaping at me and then the sting of a bite. after wildly looking around
and seeing nothing i thought the snake had left. with heart
pounding i stood there wondering what to do. checked my leg and sure enough
there were the two punture holes i expected. i knew if i just sat
there i'd die. if i took off running (my first impulse) i knew i'd
die. i stepped back and there it was AGAIN..jumping at
me.
(G) turned out my snake was a section of dead, very
hard grape vine and when you stepped on one end the other shot up in a curve and
sure enough two little jagged points on the "biting end". was such a
relief i almost cried. those were the days before the cell phone so i
woulda sure enuff been on my own. what SHOULD you do if you find yourself
in that kinda of situation? carry a cell for sure but what if it didn't
pick up there?

Man does not have the only memory, The animals remember, The earth
remembers, The stones remember, If you know how to listen, they will tell
you many things.
not drugs but keeping two, 6 inch lengths of good
garden hose in your first aid kit is a good idea if you are in a snakey
area, as weird as this sounded to me when I first heard about it, it
works, if your horse is bitten and there
is swelling, you put the garden hose up those nostrils and it keeps them
from swelling shut, if there isn't enough swelling to hold them in, you don't
need them, they just fall out when the swelling goes down. and at camp... you
can shoot HUGE spit wads with them :o) , but then, i camp with
