Re: [RC] Wobenzyme - Bruce Weary DC

Hi Sharon--
The only side effect I have seen with Wobenzym is loose stools when taken in large amounts. This is because enzymes break down your food as well as attack inflammation. Enzyme formulations were originally designed to help people digest their food, and many people still take them for that reason. Taking lactase for lactose intolerance is one example. Over the years, it was incidentally noticed that they seemed to help with inflammation and tissue recovery. Nowadays, when a multimillion dollar halfback in the NFL tears a hamstring, but is playing again in two or three weeks, it may be due to his trainers loading him up in enzymes. They are widely used among high level athletes. I suppose it would depend on how often you take the Excedrin Migraine. The aspirin has a blood thinning effect, and the enzymes can too when taken in large doses, so the combination of the two is probably what they are cautioning you against. I would start slow and see if you tolerate the Wobenzym without aggravation of your intestinal tract. You probably will. It may even help with that type of inflammation. I would rather see you alleviate the cause of those headaches than continue to medicate for them. I have an opening here at the office at 10:30. Does that work for you? Dr Q
