Re: [RC] Ariat Terrains - Quality?? - Lysane Cree"I've recently had the same problems while riding (with my Terrains) and my / chiropractor made me buy custom orthotic insoles with nice big "transverse arches" which is the small arch right behind the ball of your foot. NOT the big arch in the middle of your foot that most people buy supports for. (There are actually THREE arches in your foot.) I think he said that when the transverse arch falls, you get plantar fascitis (not sure exactly WHAT that is) and frequently numb toes and painful shins." I *do* have custom made orthotics that support the "transverse arch" and the bigger arch because I have high arches and have had problems with plantar fascitis, so you hit it right on :) However, with the orthotics I haven't experienced any pain at all until I switched to the hiking shoe - thinking I could put them to use since there are not too many canyons to hike in
around home! :) The shoes seem fine for walking, but really not for riding, so I guess I will have to use them for dog-walking or something, rather than riding. Lysane
