TRAILER DEATHS

Officials warn against using generators in enclosed spaces

OKEMAH, Okla. (AP) _ The deaths of a 15-year-old Beggs girl and her chaperone 
at a rodeo event is leading officials to warn against using generators in 
enclosed spaces.

Robyn Johnson and 54-year-old Leonard McLaughlin of Mounds died last Saturday 
in Okemah where they to take part in a rodeo and parade. Investigators say a 
generator in the back of the horse trailer apparently caused their deaths.

Deputy Sheriff Wally Childress says the generator was being used for lights and 
to watch television, but there was no exhaust to allow the gas to escape.
