[RC] Google Indexes All of Ridecamp - k s swigartLinda Merims said: Kat Swigart said:The Internet has always been that way... Sigh... I would point out that the length of one's experience on the Internet (which, from googling "k s swigart", for Kat seems to date from 1996) and "always" are two different timelines. Which just goes to show you that Google doesn't find everything. I've been pissing people off (formerly on some USENET groups for much longer than that), and I suspect that I am one of the last people on the planet who was still using a unix shell account for Internet access when my service provider finally cut me off in about 1999. Note: "The Internet" came into being as production network circa 1983 and existed as an experimental network from around 1977. Its predecessor ARPANET existed going back in some form to around 1970. "The Internet" didn't go "public" until 1994. So, if this is the case, anybody who has a problem with its "public" nature has had 12 years to adjust. So, you have answered for yourself your original question about "when did something wonderful turn into this?" It's like saying "What's your problem? Timbuktu was always publically-accesible!" after a Star Trek transporter has been invented. Indeed, it is exactly like saying that. What IS your problem? Google seems to have made it easier for people who are interested in the information provided on Ridecamp to find it.
