RE: [RC] [RC] [RC] No seeums/ sweet itch remedies - Mel CochranI went to my local farm supply and looked through the boxes of insecticidal tags and read the back of the box. I found some that said that they were safe for lactating animals and figured those would be the bet bet. I purchased a "broken" box and got enough to last me for two summers. I called my vet and ran it by him and he didn't see a problem with it. You do need to wear gloves to handle the tags and I would not put more than two on a horse. It does make them look a bit Minnie Pearlish. This is something that folks who use plow horses would attach to the harness to keep flys from driving the horses/mules batty. Of course, there are always folks who would err on the side of caution with this one since it is a bit of a "home remedy" and not officially "approved" for horses. I personally have not had problems with them. Call your vet and see what they say. Cheers!
